I am a 40-year-old life-long Brentford fan... fair to say I have seen the really good times and the not so good times. Thomas leaves as a club legend. He understood our club like no other, what he achieved is borderline genius. Good luck Thomas, Spurs fans please look after him and he will return the favour.

This seems like a good time to consider what Thomas Frank's first steps will be as Tottenham manager:

    • What might he look to change?
    • Where does the squad need strengthening?
    • What elements of Ange Postecoglou's side will he want to retain?
    • What style of play will be implement?
    • How will be look to improve on last season's league form and build on their Europa League success?

While we consider those topics, it would be great to hear from Tottenham ers on what you want to see from your new manager.

Get in touch via WhatsApp or text using the details above.

    Thanks.

  • Gossip: Brentford will block Frank's swoop for Norgaardpublished at 10:13 British Summer Time 13 June

Jay Harris, from the Athletic, told BBC Radio 5 Live earlier that Thomas Frank's first job will be to tighten up Tottenham's defence.

Well, according to Givemesport, external, Brentford will block attempts from Frank to bring Christian Norgaard with him to Spurs.

The Danish defensive midfielder, who ed the club in the summer of 2019, signed a new two-year deal with the Bees in March.

He has been credited with providing a shield in front of the Brentford defence while also laying a platform to help the Bees' forward players shine.

At the time Norgaard signed that new contract, then Brentford head coach Thomas Frank said: "Christian has been an integral part of the fantastic journey we have been on these past six years. He is our club captain and one of our most important players.

"The first time I coached Christian, he was a number 10; now he is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League."

Not sure it's quite the same, Chris, as David Moyes taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson - Manchester United were Premier League champions at the time and had enjoyed an unprecedented period of success.

However, Tottenham have won a first piece of silverware in 17 years so the squad has shown what it is capable of.

Can Thomas Frank build on that Europa League title?

    We shall see...

Is this an impossible job for Frank? Succeeding Postecoglou is akin to Moyes taking over from Ferguson. It could lead to a thankless task and perceived under achievement without a trophy fairly soon.

I'm emotionally confused after the Frank appointment. I was so enjoying Spurs being super Spursy last season...and populating the lower regions of the table together with Manchester United. But Frank? I love Thomas Frank. I wish him great success...do I now wish Spurs success? Wow, I'm so confused.

You know Jay, it's not just the Tottenham ers who are feeling conflicted.

This just in from a Thomas Frank fan...

  • 'For a lot of Spurs fans their emotions still feel very conflicted'published at 09:46 British Summer Time 13 June

    BBC 5 Live Breakfast

A final word from the Athletic's Tottenham reporter Jay Harris: "I think Spurs fans feel mixed [about the appointment]. I think they’re excited about Thomas Frank but this is going to be a difficult job for him because no matter what happens, he is going to be the manager who succeeded Ange Postecoglou and for a lot of Spurs fans their emotions still feel very conflicted about that.

"Lots of them recognise that Postecloglou didn’t do a particularly good job in the league but he brought them their first piece of silverware in 17 years, their first European trophy in 41 years.

"The amount of Spurs fans I know and have spoken to who’ve said that has been a huge weight off their shoulders to finally lose that tag of being trophyless."

It will be interesting to hear from Thomas Frank, Pete.

There were no quotes from Tottenham's new boss in the club statement announcing his appointment.

So we will have to wait for the answers to some of these questions.

All will become clear in time, no doubt...

Ange promised Levy he’d win something then delivered it. The question is what does he want now? Frank is an excellent manager but his main achievement is PL stability. Would Levy settle for that? Is Frank the manager to make a run at the PL title or the UCL? It seems unlikely given where City, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Europe’s elite are at right now. Got to wonder not only what Levy promised Frank but what Frank has promised Levy.

  • 'They'll want Frank to be here for the long-term'published at 09:28 British Summer Time 13 June

    BBC 5 Live Breakfast

The Athletic's Tottenham reporter Jay Harris told BBC Radio 5 Live: "I think what they’ll want Thomas Frank to do is be here for the long-term. He is a manager who, if you look at his track record at Brentford and before that when he worked with Denmark’s youth teams, he’s very good at developing young talent and this Spurs squad is very young at the moment.

"I think what they’ll hope Frank does in the short-term is fix their defence. They conceded at least 60 goals in the last two seasons under Ange Postecoglou in the league.

"So ideally fix the defence, get them to be a bit more consistent. Spurs were just too up and down under Postecoglou and hopefully get them back towards the top of the table."
